I was tasked to build a laundry detergent brand for men that moms and women would buy. The goal was to give Hero Clean an all-American feel by marketing toward the military, athletic men, and manly men who tell bad jokes from time to time.
I worked with a product design firm to redesign the bottles. We wanted them to feel like something both an athlete, a college student, and a firefighter would use. The problem was that usually women buy laundry detergent within a house hold, so the brand had to feel like ‘if your man used this product, then he was Hero Clean.’
